Sally Taylor's music has folk and rock influences, but some of
the tunes on her debut album TOMBOY BRIDE could
be better described as jazz. Her soulful songs were all written
by Sally over the past 2-3 years.
When she found herself in Colorado for a second winter, she decided
to do some recording. Her intention was only to make a demo, to
organize her music and make a collection of her songs for herself.
But with the help of Wendy Woo, her co-producer, they ended up
with Tomboy Bride, a patchwork of Sally's colorful
life.
Tomboy Bride was recorded in a make-shift studio
off a 3-mile dirt road up in the hills of Lyons, Colorado. "
It was hard to keep the cricket chirps off the album," Sally
said, " still you can hear them on some of the quieter tracks
if you listen hard enough." And at night they recorded by
candlelight to silence the buzzing of the room lights.
Sally's beautiful silvery alto voice is like sunshine. She sounds
indistinctly like both of her parents (Carly Simon & James
Taylor), but Sally has stumbled onto something entirely new and
authentic. Tomboy Bride is pure and passionate
and loving and golden.
